1.      Fr. Nicholas Forde, OMI

We pray for the repose of the soul of Father Nicholas Forde, OMI, who died in Prince George on Friday, June 13th at the age of 81 years. Father Forde was born in Cardiff, Wales and ordained to the priesthood in the Congregation of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate by Most Rev. Fergus O’Grady, OMI, in Kilkenny, Ireland on March 16, 1957. In 1977 he came to the Diocese of Prince George to work in Catholic Education with Bishop O’Grady and the Frontier Apostolate. He served as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Prince George for 18 years. A prayer service for Father Forde will be held on Friday, June 20th at 7 pm at Immaculate Conception Parish and the Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, June 21st at 11 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

UPCOMING SUMMER EVENTS:

  • All young adults are invited to our SUMMER THEOLOGY OF THE BODY study ‘Freedom to Love’ by Christopher West happening every Thursday at 6:30pm from now until July 10. It’s not too late to join in. Please bring a dish/donation for dinner. Not in PG? We’ve set up a way for you to join us virtually! Form your own young adult group where you are and join us online!   • ONE ROCK is a 3-day “vibrant faith-filled Christian festival for young adults and their families. It’s a time to come together, away from the noise of the world, to make a noise for GOD!”  Taking place August 15-17 in Redwoods Meadows, Alberta, the event is open to all young adults 17+.   • Did you enjoy Ken Yasinski’s message at DYC? Eunice Hii & Fr. Jack will be road-tripping to IGNITE ALBERTA this August 24-29. This is a 1-week Catholic camp run by Ken’s ministry, Facetoface Ministries. Eunice had the privilege of serving as a leader there last summer and it blew her socks off!! 3.      Rose Prince Pilgrimage

 Parishes are asked to place the following notice in bulletins the next two weekends:

The Annual Rose Prince Pilgrimage will be held July 4-6, 2014 at the Lejac Pilgrimage site. This year is the 65th anniversary of the death of Rose Prince. Fr. Garry LaBoucane, OMI will be the guest speaker. The weekend begins with an opening prayer at 7 p.m. Friday and concludes with lunch at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Along with presentations by Fr. Garry, there will be prayer services, Stations of the Cross, a Healing Mass, the Living Rosary and a Candlelight Procession. Bishop Stephen Jensen will preside at Mass on Sunday. 4.      Domano Renewal Centre Catering

Please put the following notice in parish bulletins:

The Domano Renewal Centre is sad to announce the departure of our caterers Lily & Brenda! We would like to thank them for their great meals and wonderful friendship over the years. You will be missed!

The Domano Renewal Centre, located in College Heights, is a retreat centre and is currently hiring a contract-based caterer for mostly weekend work with some weekdays required. Applicant must have food safe certification. If you are interested in applying for the catering position at the Domano Renewal Centre, please contact them for further details at (250)964-4475.

 

5.      Employment Opportunity – Accounting Clerk

Please repost the following job opportunity in parish bulletins as the hours have been revised:

The Diocesan Centre has a part-time (25 hours per week) Accounting position available.

The applicant must have:

•     strong bookkeeping skills and experience
•     experience with Sage AccPac or other accounting programs
•     working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. Benefit package included. 6.      Monthly Day of Adoration

Emmanuel Hermitage invites you to a Personal Date with Jesus on July 8th in the Domano Chapel (at the Domano Renewal Centre, 6500 Southridge Ave.). Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m. and the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for a day of silent prayer and adoration. We will pray especially for the people and needs of our Diocese, the universal Church, and the world. In particular we will pray for the protection of all human life, for vocations, and for the intentions of those participating in the day.
