Thirteen men and women from five religious communities of women and one religious community of men serve in the Diocese of Prince George. They are involved in various types of ministry including pastoral assistants in parishes and missions, hospital chaplaincy, counseling, administration, catechesis and sacramental preparation, retreat ministry and spiritual direction. In addition, one hermit has made vows to the Bishop.

Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis of Assisi

The Congregation of the Missionary Brothers of Saint Francis of Assisi (CMSF) is an international Society of Religious Brothers founded in 1901 in India by Brother Paulus Moritz of Germany. The Congregation follows the Rule of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis of Assisi. Two Franciscan Brothers live in Fraser Lake and serve the missions of Nadleh, and Stellaquo. Dominican Sisters (Adrian)

The Adrian Dominican Sisters (OP) are an international Congregation of 841 vowed women religious whose roots go back to St. Dominic in the 13th century. They are committed to preaching the Word of God, the formation of community centered on faith, common prayer and ministry to further the values of the gospel among themselves and in our world. Four Dominican Sisters serve in Prince George  and Fort St James providing counseling, retreat ministry and parish pastoral assistance. Emmanuel Hermitage

The hermit is a solitary contemplative pray-er, consecrated to God through the hands of the bishop according to her approved Rule of Life. The simple life of the hermit is focused on the conscious living of the inner Christian journey of transformation through participation in the Paschal Mystery of Christ. Dedicated to prayer on behalf of the diocese and of the whole world, the hermit also serves through spiritual accompaniment to individual persons on their journey. Faithful Companions of Jesus

The Faithful Companions of Jesus (FCJ) are an international Society of Roman Catholic Sisters living in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas. They are committed to living their charism of faithful companionship with Jesus. Enriched by cultural diversity and internationality they celebrate the life of the risen Christ, seeking to find God in all things and joy in being sent on mission. “Growing together, we strive to make God’s presence known and loved in our world”.  Prince George benefits from the spiritual direction and retreat ministry of a member of the Society. Religious of the Sacred Heart

The Society of the Sacred Heart shares in the mission of the Church by making known the revelation of God’s love, whose source and symbol for them is the heart of Christ. In Canada they serve in diverse ministries from Atlantic to Pacific. Education is at the heart of their mission and through listening to the calls of our world they aim to respond to today’s needs. Their ministries range from formal education settings to retreat and pastoral work and work with refugees. There are two members of the Society serving in Prince George. Sisters of St. Joseph

The Sisters of St. Joseph have been in Canada since 1851 but trace their origins back 350 years to Le Puy, France. Their founders, Father Jean Pierre Medaille, SJ, and the first six Sisters, were inspired by Jesus’ invitation to love God and to love their neighbor.

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Peterborough (CSJ) recognize their call to a mission of active and inclusive love through their commitment to share life together and to touch our world in a manner that proclaims that all of life is sacred. School Sisters of Notre Dame

The mission of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) is to proclaim the good news and to direct their entire lives toward that oneness for which Jesus Christ was sent. Their ministry of education means enabling persons to reach the fullness of their potential as individuals created in God’s image and assisting them to direct their gifts toward building the earth.
